Stanley Road

Stanley Road is the title of the album where these classic tracks are played and I love this song, it really does bring back memories of things which happened in the past in my life. In fact this is why Paul Weller songs mean so much to me, they reflect things which have happen and still do happen in my life, in addition to that he projects those emotions and events in a very desirable way. Stanley Road is a wonderful example of Paul’s Great writing skills.

Porcelain Gods

Porcelain Gods is my least favourite on the Stanley road CD none the less its not a bad track when you listen to it a few times however it never really grabbed me the way others did on the CD. Perhaps there are those of you who favour this track but for me it never really touched me. check the track out for yourself and make your own opinion.

Pink on white walls

Pink on White Walls was a song which Paul Weller wanted the famous R& B singer Steve Winwood to sing however somehow he never got around to do so. Other rumours circulated that he wanted Joe Cocker to sing some of his songs.

Pink on White Walls main riff is played on piano a track which Paul wrote on the piano, its a lovely melodic song and well worth learning and listening too again and again. In fact when you listen to the album stanley road it will be hard to have a favourite as so many songs on the CD are so good Pink on White Walls written by Paul Weller is no exception

Out of the sinking

Out of the Sinking is one of those great tracks which has nice guitar riffs and tasteful guitar phrases combined with nice licks. So you take a way the vocals and there is a distinctive sound. When Paul’s combines his vocals with this track its absolutely brilliant.

There is a part of the song where there is a standard rock beat used, I can recall seeing PaulWeller play this song live with one guitar when he started having Steve Cradock play guitar with him and they played this part together the strength of two guitars gave a much stronger effect to the song.

Lyrics: You do something to me, by Paul Weller

I have been a Paul Weller fan for many years and this track is yet another example of many of just what a great song writer “Weller” is. The album Stanley Road illustrates that point perfectly well. Hats off to one of the greatest song writers ever the one and only Weller for writing another classic song and Album.

You do something to me, something deep inside
I’m hanging on the wire for a love I’ll never find
You do something wonderful then chase it all away
Mixing my emotions that throws me back again
Hanging on the wire, I’m waiting for the change
I’m dancing through the fire, just to catch a flame
an’ feel real again

You do something to me somewhere deep inside
I’m hoping to get close to a peace I cannot find

Dancing through the fire just to catch a flame
Just to get close to, just close enough
To tell you that…..

You do something to me something deep inside.

I walk on Gilded Splinters

Here is a beat giving the impression of African Zulu Drums and it gives a great impression again the beat sounds really authentic and hard driving, its a great track with good music and intelligent lyrics. The idea of Gilded Splinters puts your thoughts into all directions. I think the title of the song I walk on guilded splinters is well suited also very original.
